Baah Acheamfour |
Baah Acheamfuor, the man who was brutalized three weeks ago by a group of thugs for openly criticizing the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party is alleging that some members of his party offered him bribe to stop exposing Nana Akufo-Addo. Baah Acheamfuor who doubles as Communications Director of pro-NPP group, ‘Save NPP Now’ received the beating of his life in the studios of Kumasi based Fox FM on purported orders of the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the NPP, Akwasi Kyei. Akwasi Kyei had turned up at the station to respond to some submissions that were being made by Baah Acheamfour on the state of the party but ended up making a call that led to an assault on the controversial NPP activist. At a press conference dubbed “The True State of the NPP” three weeks after the attack that led to his hospitalization, Baah Acheamfuor said the NPP, under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo, has turned into a corrupt and intolerant party. “You will all bear with me that a lot of people in Ghana are concerned about the emergence of a pro-violent tradition in the New Patriotic Party through the unorthodox activities of the flagbearer’s armed private paramilitary group called the “invincible forces”. The members of this force constitute an intolerant military wing created by Nana Akufo-Addo and they operate from his residence. They have visited mayhem, intimidations and sometimes blatant and life threatening assaults on innocent members of the party who are perceived as not loyal to the Flagbearer” he alleged. Speaking in an interview on Tea Cup, a segment on the Gold Power Drive with Samuel Eshu, Baah Acheamfuor stated that he will not relent in his efforts to ensure that the party returns to the path of truth. He alleged that some members of the National Council of Elders are mute over happenings in the party because of monies they have received from the flagbearer of the NPP. He also claimed that some members of the National Council of Elders as well as Members of Parliament have, through phone calls and face-to-face interactions, offered to bribe him into supporting Nana Akufo-Addo. Baah Acheamfuor also disclosed he has tape recordings to support this claim which he promised to release soon. |
